For one day a year, we say out loud what we’ve probably been thinking the whole year: our small businesses are awesome. From the ice cream place down the street to the generations-old shoe shop, our small businesses are as Pittsburgh as they can get: friendly, hard-working go-getters. Small Business Saturday has swept the country, and our Pittsburgh neighborhoods are no different. We've done our research, and we've created this list of five Pittsburgh neighborhoods going above-and-beyond this year to make shopping small a source of huge fun! Come for the shopping, but stay for the friends, old and new.

Brookline Get into the holiday spirit and do some holiday shopping in Brookline on the 24th! The Brookline Chamber of Commerce is hosting Brookline Lights Up, a day full of events, including photos with Santa, karate demonstrations, Suzuki School Violinists, carolers, and more!

Downtown

Come downtown to shop small! The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership is doing Small Business Saturday in Downtown with a twist. Participating businesses are listed on a Small Business Saturday passport. Visit each business, get a stamp, and win prizes for shopping local! Lawrenceville Lawrenceville's shops are excited for your business on Saturday the 24th. But the neighborhood will be pulling out all the stops for the 2018 Lawrenceville Cookie Tour, a chance to visit 45+ businesses along Butler Street and Penn Avenue for holiday shopping and cookie sampling. Can't decide which weekend to attend? Come to both! Oakland Oakland shines this Small Business Saturday. Oakland’s locally-owned businesses will have lights on their storefronts for the holiday season as a way of welcoming customers to the neighborhood. The Oakland Business Improvement district will be rounding out the night with a tree lighting on Forbes Digital Plaza.

Swisswale & Regent Square

The Swissvale Rotary Club invites you to their 2nd Annual Holiday Stroll. Coffee and donuts, specials and sales await. Visit the 30+ participating small businesses and do your weekend grocery shopping at the Swissvale Outdoor Market!

But that is not all, every neighborhood, special event or not, is filled with small businesses ready to welcome you into their doors, usually with great deals too. Just pop in and say hello, you never know who you’ll meet or what you’ll find!
