The Ultimate Pittsburgh 2021 Local Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Valentine’s Day is looking a bit different this year. There are plenty of options here in Pittsburgh for you to have a safe, socially-distant Valentine’s Day this year!

Here are five of our favorite local businesses in the area (who also happen to be Honeycomb alumni) that are offering unique takes on the holiday, whether it’s a Valentine’s Day brunch, unique sweets, pickles, warming coffee drinks, or a tipple of moonshine.

Valentine’s Day fun for all ages with heartwarming breakfast, dessert, and snack boxes from Square Cafe

Square Cafe in East Liberty, a local breakfast and lunch spot, has a variety of sweet options for your Valentine’s Day! Get creative and order a cookie decorating kit for a festive date idea, or pick up some trendy chocolate geo-hearts. They’re also doing a family-friendly pancake breakfast set-up and lava cake gift baskets, all available to order online for pickup and delivery.

Get something heart-healthy at The Speckled Egg

The Speckled Egg, a brunch restaurant in Downtown Pittsburgh, has a beautiful beetroot latté made with maple syrup, ginger, and warming spices. While it might not be the expected chocolate (but man, do they have chocolate options!), its pink hue is perfectly themed for a healthy take on Valentine’s Day goodies, along with their other delicious brunch offerings.

Go boozy or sweet for brunch with help from the Pickled Chef

The Pickled Chef has gift baskets with the makings for a Bloody Mary as well as His and Hers baskets with local honey, maple syrup, and caramels, or jerky, hot sauce, and of course, pickles! If you’re looking for something unique, this is the perfect way to spoil your special someone.

The perfect Valentine’s day dinner: Candles, roses, and moonshine?

If you’re looking for something a bit more on the exciting side, might we suggest a gift box from Tall Pines Distillery? This local distillery out of Somerset is offering gift boxes in limited supply of their chocolate mint moonshine, which would pair excellently with some chocolate covered strawberries! They’re also offering a number of different bottles in their online store, so why not try moonshine instead of wine at your Valentine’s Day dinner this year?

Eat your heart out with ice cream from Millie’s

Pittsburgh icon Millie’s Homemade Ice Cream is offering a Valentine’s Day exclusive for their local fans, with a specialty gift box available for pickup and local delivery! You get 2 pints and 2 waffle cones that come in a cute hand-decorated box. This is perfect for dessert after a romantic dinner, or for smashing in front of the TV while watching a Julia Roberts rom-com. We don’t judge!

Also, if you’re looking for something a bit more long-lasting than ice cream (and c’mon, it’s not going to last long), Millie’s is also selling custom candles in collaboration with Pittsburgh candle maker Oh! Candles.
